Import an Existing Template

Last updated May 4, 2026

Bring your existing Spectora or Home Inspector Pro template into Hometrace without rebuilding from scratch.

If you already use Spectora or Home Inspector Pro, you don't need to rebuild your template in Hometrace. We support native imports for both, plus a CSV import for any other tool. Hometrace preserves sections, comments, and inspection logic so you can hit the ground running.

What you'll need

A template file from one of these sources:

  • Spectora: .xls or .xlsx template export
  • Home Inspector Pro (HIP): .tpz template bundle
  • Other: any template formatted as a .csv using our template format (download the sample on the import screen)

About 5 minutes.

Steps

  1. Open the Templates page in your inspector dashboard.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Choose your import source: Spectora, Home Inspector Pro, or other.
  4. Drag in your template file and click through the preview.
  5. Give the imported template a name and save.
  6. Open the imported template to review and tweak any sections, comments, or default findings before your first inspection uses it.

Tips

  • HIP imports bring over your section structure, comment library, and most inspection logic. Photo annotations and any HIP-specific automations may need a manual look.
  • Spectora imports preserve your section/spec hierarchy and comment options. Custom calculations may need to be re-entered.
  • For larger or more complex templates, or if you're on a tool we don't import directly, we offer a done-for-you migration. Send us whatever format you've got and we'll handle it. Reply to your welcome email or reach out at support@hometrace.co.

Next step
