The Hometrace inspection wizard guides you through creating comprehensive property inspection reports. This guide covers the workflow from start to finish.

Inspection Wizard Overview

The inspection wizard organizes your inspection into steps:

  1. Property Details: Enter property address and client information
  2. Areas & Appliances: Add rooms, exterior spaces, and document appliances
  3. Review: Review findings and complete the inspection

Starting a New Inspection

From the web dashboard or iOS app:

  1. Click "New Inspection" or tap the plus button
  2. Enter the property address
  3. Add client contact information
  4. Select a template or start from scratch

Adding Areas

Areas organize your inspection into logical sections.

Types of Areas

Your template will include common areas like:

  • Interior rooms: Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living spaces
  • Exterior: Roof, foundation, driveway, landscaping
  • Systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing areas

Working with Areas

  1. Select an area from the list
  2. Add appliances and items within that area
  3. Document condition with photos and notes
  4. Move to the next area

  • Take clear, well-lit photos of each item

  2. Tap the camera icon
  3. Take a photo or select from your device
  4. Photos are automatically associated with the current item
