Review and undo what Hometrace changed
Check what Hometrace saved, correct findings and field values, and undo a change on web or mobile.
When you ask Hometrace to add or change report content, it can save those edits directly. Review the result as part of writing your report, whether the request came from text, voice, or photo analysis.
Changes and Review
Everything Hometrace changes is listed for you in one place. Which label you see depends on where you are.
ControlWhere it isWhat it lists
Changes
Everywhere outside an inspection
Every change Hometrace made across your account, grouped by what it touched: inspections, templates, contacts, and settings. Every row has Undo.
Review
Inside an inspection
What Hometrace filed on that report. This is where you accept, reject, or edit an item before you publish.
It is one control with two labels, so you never have to remember which screen you're on. From Changes you can open an inspection's group and come straight back.
Check what actually changed
Read Hometrace's response and the job line in the conversation. A job line shows what it is working on and what it filed, and carries a Review link when something on that report is waiting for you. You can also open Review from the report workspace.
Check the saved report itself when you need to confirm a detail. A job starting isn't the same as finishing, and a failed request may have completed some steps before it stopped. Check existing content before asking Hometrace to repeat the whole request.
For each change, confirm:
- Placement: Is it in the correct report, area, and subsection?
- Facts: Does the wording match what you saw or tested?
- Classification: Is it the right finding type and severity?
- Details: Are field values, appliance information, and supporting photos accurate?
Correct a finding or field
You can edit the report normally or ask Hometrace for a specific correction. Identify the existing item and say exactly what should change.
For example: "Update the upstairs bathroom sink finding. The leak is at the supply connection, not the drain trap. Keep the plumber recommendation."
Use "update" or "change" when you mean to revise an existing finding. If you ask to add a finding instead, you may create a second item. When several findings have similar names, include the location or answer the clarifying question before continuing.
Undo a change
Undo is on every row in Changes, and on the receipt line the conversation shows after a change lands. It works on the web and in the mobile app.
- Find the specific change, either in Changes or on its receipt line in the conversation.
- Select Undo on that row.
- Wait for the result. A successful undo changes the button to Undone.
- Check the report to confirm the result.
An undone row stays in the list marked Undone. There is no redo, so make the change again if you want it back.
You can also ask for a specific reversal, such as: "Undo the AI edits to the water heater's model and serial number fields." Name the fields you mean so the request doesn't include unrelated details.
When Undo is refused
Undo is refused when the thing changed after Hometrace changed it, because putting the old value back would quietly throw away your later work. The message says so: Can't undo: changed since. A few changes are refused for their own reason, such as a contact that is now attached to an inspection, and the message names it.
A refused Undo is shown and disabled with its reason, never hidden. Read the current state of the item before trying again, then make the correction yourself or ask for a specific change.
Changes Hometrace asks about first
Some changes stop and ask before they happen: renaming a template or a templated note, changing or removing a contact, and changing or removing a service, fee, or discount. The question shows what the change affects, and its buttons are the verb, such as Rename or Delete, and Cancel.
A cancelled question leaves nothing behind. Nothing is written, and nothing appears in Changes.
See Getting started with Hometrace for the full list of what asks first and what lands immediately.
Remove a photo analysis result
In Review, use Remove when you want to reverse a saved edit. Remove restores the value from before the edit Hometrace made; for a newly added item, that can mean removing the item. It changes report content, not just the review list.
If you remove the wrong edit, use Restore when it is offered on the removed entry or in the confirmation message. Some changes cannot be restored, so the available controls can differ by result.
If you edited the same item yourself afterward, Review protects your later work and doesn't offer Remove for that AI edit. Make the correction in the report editor instead. A sent report must be revised and re-sent; removing an edit doesn't silently change the client's existing report.
If the finding is useful but the wording is wrong, edit it instead of removing it. For a field that needs a different value, set the correct value and check the report afterward. Use Mark reviewed when you've checked an edit; this records your review of work that has already saved.
Finish with your own report review
Stopping Hometrace or ending a voice conversation doesn't roll back saved work. Before delivering the report, read the final wording and confirm that the findings, photos, and recommendations reflect your inspection.
